A Universal Expansion Bellow (also called Universal Expansion Joint) is a flexible metallic device designed to absorb large axial, lateral, and angular movements in piping systems. It consists of two bellows elements connected by a central pipe (spool), with or without tie rods, to accommodate movement in multiple directions.
Two bellows connected with a spool in between.
Can handle large lateral movements compared to a single axial bellow.
Can also absorb small axial and angular movements.
May include tie rods to control pressure thrust and absorb external forces.
Used when lateral movement is significant (e.g., thermal expansion of long pipelines).
Ideal for pipelines running in two different directions or where space constraints exist.
Power plants
Petrochemical industries
Oil & Gas
HVAC systems
Steam and condensate lines
Refineries
High flexibility for lateral movements.
Can reduce the need for multiple joints.
Absorbs multi-directional movements in one unit.
